Amanda Randles Named 2026 Daubechies Lecturer

April 24, 2026

The Office for Research & Innovation has named Amanda Randles as the speaker for the 2026 Daubechies Lecture. Randles, Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Duke University, leads research in large-scale biomedical simulation, advancing new approaches to understanding, diagnosing, and preventing disease.

Her lecture, “From Reactive to Proactive: Reimagining Health Through Digital Twins,” highlights the development of patient-specific digital twins that integrate wearable sensor data, medical imaging, and computational modeling. This work establishes a foundation for continuously evolving models of human physiology, enabling earlier detection of disease and more personalized treatment strategies.

The 2026 Daubechies Lecture will serve as the keynote address for the sixth annual Duke Research Summit on April 24, 2026. Named in honor of Duke professor and mathematician Ingrid Daubechies, the lecture series recognizes the contributions of women in science and technology.

In addition to the keynote lecture, the summit will feature a fireside chat with Jennifer Lodge, Vice President for Research and Innovation, panel discussions on emerging areas of research, and lightning talks showcasing current work across disciplines.

The Duke Research Summit is an all-day event taking place on April 24, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Wilkinson Building.
