In this Nature Reviews Bioengineering article, we examine the transition from traditional computational models to true digital twins of the human circulatory system. The review outlines how multiscale modeling, data integration, and advances in computation are enabling dynamic, patient-specific systems that move beyond describing physiology to predicting disease progression and informing treatment decisions.
