The Randles Lab is excited to welcome Jakob Olsen as a new Research Associate at Duke University.
Jakob joins the lab with a strong background in computer science, computer architecture, and high-performance computing. He earned his B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where his graduate research focused on developing a hybrid matrix multiplication unit for a CPU. His experience also spans RISC-V systems programming, embedded systems, artificial intelligence, and software development.
Jakob will contribute to the lab’s work developing high performance computational approaches for patient-specific modeling of the cardiovascular system. His research will support ongoing efforts to advance vascular digital twins that integrate physiological data with large-scale blood flow simulations to better characterize cardiovascular function and disease.
As a member of the lab, Jakob will work with our interdisciplinary team spanning biomedical engineering, computational science, and cardiovascular medicine to develop and apply new computational tools for modeling patient-specific physiology.
We are excited to have Jakob join the team and look forward to the contributions he will make to the lab’s research.
